Agriturismo Villa dei Papiri

The holiday farm “Villa dei Papiri” is an old Sicilian house dating back to the 19th century. It dominates a 13 hectares area rich in plantations of lemons and oranges and surrounded by papyrus plants, palms, olive, almond and carob trees, cypress, bonsais as well as other wonderful Mediterranean plants.

It is located 5 kms away from Syracuse, inside the Natural Reserve of the River Ciane & Saline, a few meters from the famous source of the myth of Persephone as praised in the Metamorphoses of Ovid. It is surrounded by beautiful Egyptian Papyri, exactly the same papyrus used for the preparation of those extraordinary paper rolls on which most of human history has passed.

In this vast nature reserve Villa dei Papiri is elegantly refined and equipped with every comfort to offer to its visitors the opportunity to relax and enjoy the beauties of the place.
 

Theold 19th-centuryfarmhouse was completely renovated in 2008, respecting the original architecture of the time and maintaining the charm and taste of our history.

It can accommodate up to 55 people and is divided into a central Villa with 8 spacious and comfortable family suites ; and three "Dependances" facilities 200 mt. from the villa with 16 comfortable and delightful double rooms.

All suites and double rooms are independent, all overlooking the garden atttrezzato with tables and umbrellas where you can enjoy the extraordinary unspoiled nature of the Park and relax in an oasis of peace.

The Villa

Suites are distributed on two levels (first floor and mezzanine). They have a living area ranging from 45 sq m (2-bed suites) to more than 65 sq m (suites up to 5 beds) divided as follows:

• a dining/living area with a kitchenette equipped with the necessities for cooking and serving meals, a television, a mini-bar, a table, chairs and one/two wrought-iron sofas/bed
• a large bathroom with a shower
• a mezzanine bedroom furnished with a wrought-iron four-poster bed, a wrought-iron sofa/bed (only in the larger ones), a spacious closet and two bedside tables.
  Except for the bathroom, all rooms are communicating
• a garden belonging to each suite with an outdoor table, chairs and umbrella. The furniture and decorations (beds, tables, chairs, ceramics ...) are of high quality craftsmanship. The suites are equipped with independent heating and air conditioning

Each double room is independent, furnished with fine antique furniture, overlooking the citrus grove, and equipped with every comfort: independent heating and air conditioning, large bathroom with shower, mini bar and television.

Villa dei Papiri is located about 3 km from Syracuse and near the most renowned beaches in the Syracuse area. We recommend visiting the beaches of Fontane Bianche, Arenella, Gelsomineto, Vendicari, and the wonderful bays of Marchesa di Cassibile.

Sports and fitness enthusiasts will find the Golf Club, riding school, tennis courts, gym, swimming pool, and boating nearby.
