The agriturismo
The family-run farm is situated in a particularly quiet location, among orchards and close to the Marlengo Waalweg path. The view of the city of Merano or the mountains of the Texel group is truly unique.
Hiking and biking tours and excursions in the mountains are among the guests' favourite activities!
From April 2019, the property offers four new apartments built of solid wood and very spacious.

The accommodation
The structure is entirely made of BIO solid virgin wood, synonymous of a sustainable life and a pleasant indoor climate. The welcome is familiar and the environment is traditional, well-kept, but above all healthy!
At guests' disposal 4 apartments, 3 of which are on the first floor and one on the ground floor.
All apartments have been individually designed to make the best use of space, are made of wood and very bright and skilfully combine South Tyrolean tradition (solid furniture and wooden floors) with modern architecture. Everyone enjoys a unique view of the city of Merano and the mountains of the Texel group. Everywhere in the house you can admire the watercolours of grandmother Anneliese, a passionate painter!
The accommodations are divided into studios, ideal for couples who love a cosy atmosphere or for short stays, and two-room apartments, ideal for couples who want more space or for families.
At guests' disposal also many quality products of own production (jam, syrup, eggs and dried fruit) and the garden with its scents and colors: there grow aromatic herbs, tasty vegetables and delicious small fruits.
Young and old can also spend pleasant moments playing with farm animals: dogs, rabbits and chickens.
Activities and surrounding
In 10 minutes on foot you can reach the famous brewery Forst, restaurants, shops, the swimming pool of Lagundo and the bus stop!
The four seasons of the Birkenhof
Spring: apple blossom. After the cold and snowy winter months, finally humans, animals and plants wake up again from their winter sleep. It‘s an exciting time for everyone, although full of work around the farmhouse, otherwise the harvest in summer and autumn would suffer. The blossoming of the apple trees is an unforgettable event for the guests: the entire Adige Valley is transformed into a unique sea of flowers and colours. And the temptation to explore it by bike or take a walk on the "Waalweg" paths of Marlengo and Lagundo is irresistible!
Summer: the freshness of the mountain. You can take one of the many cable cars or chairlifts to reach dizzying heights, climb a mountain or relax in a mountain pasture and let yourself be spoiled by South Tyrolean dishes. And in the afternoon, a cool swim in one of the nearby lakes or in one of the many outdoor pools is ideal!
Autumn: harvest time. In the valley, autumn is colourful and mild; it is the perfect time for Toerggelen (a South Tyrolean tradition for which you gather in a typical tavern, the Buschenschank) and to enjoy roasted chestnuts and wine, typical music and if you are lucky even some spontaneous dancing!
Winter: rest. After the harvest, peace and quiet returns to the Birkenhof and the days begin more calmly. This is the perfect time for all guests who want to explore the famous Christmas markets in Merano and Foresta, but also for those who love skiing, snowshoeing, hiking in the snow and the thermal baths (those of Merano are nearby and very popular)!
