"Agriturismo beautiful and sincere, as I had promised the wooden sign"

    05/06/2019

The motorbike ride in Tuscany on the bridges of spring for me is an annual joy not to be missed.
In 2003, making a hairpin bend on the road that leads from Stia to Passo della Calla, I saw with the tail of my eye a beautiful wooden sign.
I entered the dirt road and found a beautiful and sincere farm, as promised by the wooden sign.
Biggi and Scipio had just opened at the time.
Since then, swimming in nature at the La Chiusa holiday farm has become a definite stop on all the subsequent motorbike rides. The last two weeks ago.
The place is wonderful. The farm has become increasingly beautiful and hospitality is unparalleled.
    I'll see you soon. Richard

"We were too good, if I think of those days I smile again. Thanks Biggi and Scipio"

    07/12/2018

We just returned, my husband and I, from that place out of the world. It 'been a fantastic week, relaxing, with the beautiful in the eye, always. The excitement began as soon as I got out of the car, flowers, trees, meadows and a total silence: you could hear the sound of the swallows cutting the air in flight. It was what I had been looking for a long time. Nature was around us, the owners were very kind and available for everything we requested, always with a smile. Their presence has become part of that beauty. The accommodation was perfect, a good sized room with a simple and tasteful decor, the bed was very comfortable. We have booked half board and at every dinner Scipio made us a different surprise, always excellent, followed by Biggi's desserts: fantastic! We would start and finish the day with Biggi's desserts, for breakfast and dinner. The farm is also in an excellent position to visit a different Tuscany from the usual itineraries, a few kilometers there are artistic sites, religious or simple historical centers of great interest, one for all The Sanctuary of La Verna: touches the soul. I would say a lot, but I repeat only Thanks Biggi and Scipio, to this other year!

"Perfect hosts and a beautiful location, be sure to go half board!"

    08/30/2017

We stayed here in early August. Having spent the previous few days touring fairly intensively with our children of 11 and 8 I booked a 5 night stay to slow the pace down before we headed over to the second half of our holiday (in France). The location of the farm is ideal - right on the edge of the forest with easy access to hiking should you want it but only about a (very scenic) 40 minute drive from Florence so you can visit the city but return to your haven in the mountains afterwards. The rooms are furnished in a stylish rustic manner and although they are not air conditioned the farm is isolated enough that there's really no problem simply leaving a door open most of the time so the heat doesn't build . Italy was in the middle of an intense heatwave during our stay and we had no issues with sleeping at night.
The hosts Scipio and Bigi made us very welcome indeed and despite our lack of Italian they were extremely helpful. I would strongly recommend taking the half board option as we did. I had some reservations about this when I booked because my son is sometimes unduly fussy about food - but there was sufficient variety that there was never a problem with him not having something to his taste. For 4 of our 5 nights dinner was authentic Tuscan food and on the fifth night (I assume) Bigi cooked and dinner had a German twist. Breakfasts generally consist of bread, preserves, yogurts and some sort of tart or cake. In all cases the food was delicious and thoroughly recommended - and the timing of dinner at 8pm means that it doesn't impair daytime activities (we went over the other side of the hills to Gubbio one day - about 2 hours away and well worth a visit). With younger children in tow it's a delight to not have to think about where to eat in the evening.
The farm has sheep and horses and special mention should be made of the way our children were able to interact with the animals - they were delighted to see the newborn lamb and be able to brush the horses. I think if I asked the children for the highlight of our Italy trip it would be this! Speaking of wildlife, my wife and son spotted a deer down by the farm track and while I didn't see any other big animals on the farm there's a large variety of insect life if you look around though the prolonged drought probably impaired that a little on our stay. In the forest I saw some very large hawks (eagles?) at close quarters and some nights while sitting outside reading we could hear owls.

I cannot recommend La Chiusa enough - Scipio and Bigi aren't just helpful they are genuinely warm and make you feel right at home. Our stay was utterly perfect and I wouldn't hesitate to return again.

    "Holiday in nature"

    08/26/2017

Farmhouse immersed in the green even though we are in the "wrong" season to see animals. Nearby there are beautiful art places, and even small villages (Camaldoli, Poppi, Laverna ...) have proven themselves to the height of a region that includes Florence and Arezzo. Great food, especially the Tuscan meat that is very delicious. Scipio cooks very well and is very hospitable as Biggi preparing great cakes and jams. Farmers who have the spirit of adaptation and those who love a simple type of life

We spent 9 days (September 2016) at the farm "La Chiusa". Simple, basic, surrounded by nature. Good food all prepared with local produce from Scipio and excellent desserts by Biggi. Last but not least the kindness here is home. Thanks Biggi and thanks Scipio. Isa and Angelo.

    06/07/2016

A place for lovers of nature and tranquility, where to restore the spirit and why not, even the body, thanks to the tasty cuisine of Scipio and genuine sweets Biggi ... A small piece of forest that seems straight out of a book fairy tales, where you can make unexpected encounters, like with a family of wild boars and see a herd of deer so close as to leave you almost in disbelief. The rooms are basic but comfortable and above all very clean ... great base for sight seeing in the surrounding area. What more ?? Thanks to Biggi and Scipio who made us feel at home. See you soon! "Great welcome in a natural environment"

    05/24/2016

We spent a beautiful stay immersed in silence and peace. The rooms are clean and tastefully decorated, excellent cuisine. The host, an expert of the Casentino, was generous advice on trips that you can do in the surrounding area; his lady welcomed us with a bright smile and a cheerful kindness that made us feel instantly welcome and at home of friends. The pastures around the house, next to the horses, we could observe several deer that evening came from under the windows of the dining room. We found a lovely place, enjoying the comfort of the farm, you can enjoy the charm of a direct contact with nature.

    "antonio cioccolanti"

    10/26/2015

We were guests for only 2 days for a mountain bike tour in splendite forests that are in the area, the property is situated in very quiet location with good presence of horses and sheep. More than a farm call it a shelter in every way, my telephone booking was for a triple with half board for the agreed date of arrival for 20.30 state that we started with 300 km of distance, contacted the owners as agreements 30 min before arrival we were told that bringing 15 min late dinner there would be prepared even with cold dishes (we arrived at 20.45) first surprise !!! the delivery of the key we find that the room was nothing more than a large room with 8 bunk beds retreat style and the bathroom down the hall shared with others as opposed to what we were told by phone that was our exclusive use. Even worse it was the last day of our stay as we had agreed at the time of booking (and we had been given) the use of the bathroom to be able to take a shower on our return at the end of the tour MTB term peremptorily required from the owner to 14.30 here unfortunately we were guilty of having walked in the door of the premises at 14.40 and welcomed very nervously with these exact words "VI WAS BRINGING OUT YOUR THINGS" We can not judge the food but the breakfast I can say that both 3 jams honey and fruit juice is fitted the little of what one usually expects from a farm ... made in super market

    Agriturismo La Chiusa answers
Dear Mr. Antonio Cioccolanti, we thank you for the compliments to our position and these really beautiful forests, but honestly we did not understand his disappointment. Actually we ARE a farm with the characteristics of the shelter, a WE of the rooms that have more than 3 or 4 beds and the bathroom outside, and we wanted them for this and for that cost less than the others, we ARE in the mountains, US simple and suitable for hikers. All this is clearly stated on our website and all of the rooms there are pictures (we make our strong point), as is also clearly said that check-in is before 18:30, that dinner all at the same time, to 19.30 as we had announced to the phone, and that the rooms must be vacated by 10.30am. So why not condemn us, because to be as hospitable as possible and meet your requirements we went completely beyond our times, is the dinner that departure, and even the new ones that we have agreed with you have them respected, and not to so little as she says? The day of arrival you yourself, having understood our situation, called us from (before 19:00) saying they would come far beyond the maximum time that we had said (his words were, "the navigator said to arrive 21.00 ") and offered to dine out. We accepted it and now we find fault? And why? On departure day he says that I have received with nervousness: You can, but we were anxious because, as he knew, had an appointment and we had recommended, but you were late again; indeed there is that I was a bit 'nervous. And you wonder? If, as our effort to come and meet with no added costs on all exemptions requests, at least you had been on time, we could accommodate you in the best way, as is our custom and tradition, while failing to our rules and habits for you A pleasure. However, please, once we give the time to figure out where and what you are booking. It will be better for her and for the structure that can not unfortunately know first what you want and possibly advise against itself. The property can only try to present themselves as completely as possible and we have more than 30 pages of the site in Italian to explain how we are made. The rest of the farm is not a hotel chain with standard facilities, has a unique, fortunately. We will however undoubtedly account of his remarks to further improve our services and clarify even more our features. Thank you.

    09/06/2015

The warmth of Biggi when receiving dragged on for the whole duration of our stay. We were allowed to enjoy dinner fine Italian dishes and the Frückstück was always plentiful and varied. In the evening on the veranda enjoying a cold Moretti beer and thereby let the eyes wander through the dark forests, it was just consistent. We enjoyed our stay at La Chiusa and only remember so fond memories of this beautiful day. Hans Ulrich Balmer CH 3812 Wilderswil
