The agriturismo
Just 4 km from Capalbio, surrounded by hills of olive trees and Mediterranean shrubland, Ghiaccio Bosco offers accommodation in double rooms converted from old outbuildings.
Guests can enjoy the free Wi-Fi connection, a swimming pool measuring 15x7 m nestled in a large park with age-old trees and medicinal bushes, surrounded by the scents and flavours of the Maremma area.
The accommodation
The farm dates back to the nineteenth century, when the Maremma area was a land of malaria. In 1994, the owners decided to transform the rural building into an agriturismo, which they have run with enthusiasm since then.
The rooms were converted from old farm outbuildings and have private entrances from the garden, terracotta floors, exposed beams, kettle, TV, air conditioning and a safe deposit box.
Breakfast is served in the room inside the main house, or on the veranda under age-old oak trees. The varied buffet of produce from the farm and the local area gives guests the kick-start they need for a day by the sea or sightseeing.
Activities and surrounding
Around the agriturismo, guests can walk through the hills of olive trees and Mediterranean shrubland. 4 km away is the medieval villageof Capalbio and 10 km away is its sea with long, unspoilt beaches. Further on come a WWF oasis and Orbetello. Monte Argentario can be reached in 25 minutes while the spas in Saturnia are just 30 km away. 20 km away there is an 18-hole golf course and from Porto Santo Stefano it is possible to sail to the islands of Giglio and Giannutri.
Heading towards Grosseto, visitors can stop at the Maremma Park and history enthusiasts can head to the Etruscan areas of Vulci and Tarquinia with their Etruscan necropolises and museums.
