“Le Macchie Alte” is an organic estate of 420 hectares (a little over 1000 acres) in which we grow olives, cereals and forage, and breed Maremman cattle, boar and Cinta Senese pigs. Immersed in the quiet of the hills, by the shadow of a great oak tree, you will find a delightful salt water swimming pool when you can relax and take a refreshing dip. The accommodation

Three stone farmhouses offer twelve guest rooms, each with its own bathroom, restored with the greatest respect for the traditional architecture of rural Maremma. You won’t find a television here, but we have a beautiful room with fireplace to relax in peace and to chat with old friends or new ones you’ve made here.

Activities and surrounding

f you like walking, “Le Macchie Alte” is also a wildlife reserve, where you can choose between two nature itineraries. The “Fontanile” walk is six kilometers and the “Sette Poggi” is nine. Along your way you can meet hares, pheasants, squirrels, buzzards ... and sometimes even wild boar. For those who like horse-riding or would like to try this thrilling experience for the first time, we organise guided treks.

And if you want to offer yourselves a treat, you can book a massage or beauty treatment. Four and two kilometers from Le macchie alte is Montemerano and Manciano, famous for is perfectly perserved medieval center. You cannot afford to miss the very famous Saturnia thermal baths.

The place is as gloriuos as ever in its warm waters (37°) at any time of the year is a pleasure all must enjoy at least once.
