The agriturismo

The farm holyday, owned by the noble Giuli Rosselmini Gualandi family since 1747, is set on a gentle slope of the Costa degli Etruschi among olive trees, vines and pine trees but is only 5 km from the white beaches of the Gulf of Follonica.

The accommodation

The farm holiday is part of a estate that extends for 720 hectares. It is possible to visit the farm and the cow (Chianina) breeding and buy the organic olive oil produced from the olives picked from the trees around the property.

In the villa and surrounding buildings, 7 apartments have been renovated. All have modern conveniences and comforts but the traditional wood and terracotta features have been retained. The early 20th century furniture is part of the family’s collection and adds to the romantic atmosphere.
I Pini is a detached house with a small terrace near the swimming pool. Sleeps 3 and has independent heating. Access for the disabled.
Gli Oleandri and i Mandorli are situated on the first floor and access is by an outside staircase – typical of cottages in Maremma. Sleeps 4 and have independent heating. The latter faces east and has a superb view of the sea and the Isle of Elba.
Le Margherite (sleeps 2/3), i Gerani (sleeps 4), le Acacie and i Lecci (sleeps 4/6) are located in the ancient part of the villa and have spacious rooms, very cool in summer.

There is a large, fully renovated area on the ground floor (once used for the pressing and storing of olive oil) which is ideal for hosting social events, conferences and training courses.
Guests have the use of a large swimming pool situated amid olive trees with a splendid view of the Isle Elba. Also in the grounds are a five-a-side football pitch, tennis table and children playground. Bicycles are also available for use by guests – both adults and children.
There is a large, organic vegetable garden where guests can pick seasonal produce.
Small pets are welcome.

Activities and surrounding

The estate  is just 5 km. from the blue sea of the Costa degli Etruschi and the white fine sandy beaches of the Gulf of Follonica: Torre Mozza, Carbonifera, la Sterpaia and Perelli. Here you can pass the day on a free beach or rent umbrella and sun beds and have lunch at a small fish restaurant by the sea.
Otherwise, for those who enjoy nature, you can visit the Val di Cornia natural parks of Baratti and Populonia, Rimigliano, Montioni, the Sterpaia and the Parco Archeominerario di San Silvestro and follow the naturist, artistic and archaeological trails.

Your journey of discovery in our ancient territory can begin with a visit to:
San Vincenzo (km. 24): seaside town on the Tyrrhenian coast with an excellent tourist marina. Its fine white sandy beach is bordered by tens of kilometres of dense Mediterranean woodland.
Campiglia Marittima (km. 14): small hill top town, once medieval village has many cultural activities and numerous archaeological sites well worth a visit.
Venturina (km. 11): already famous in Etruscan times, the water from its hot springs averages 38ºC and supply the Calidario thermal baths, set in splendid historical surroundings. They are equipped with the best facilities for relaxation and physical/mental well being and are open all year round. Our guests are eligible for a reduction at reception.
Populonia (km. 15): an ancient Etruscan city-state, situated on a hill top overlooking the enchanting Gulf of Baratti. The Baratti and Populonia archaeological site is one of the most important Etruscan historical sites with traces of the ancient iron industry and some of the most significant examples of monumental tombs.
Suvereto (km. 20): splendid medieval village is over 1,000 years old and is set on the side of a hill in the green Cornia valley overlooking the sea. Rich in history and art, it is a real jewel.
Massa Marittima (km. 25): has a beautiful central square, Piazza Garibaldi, which is surrounded by the romanic cathedral, the Palazzo dei Priori and the Palazzo del Comune.
A visit to the Cala Violina is a must. Situated between the Puntone di Scarlino and Punta Ala, it can only be reached by signposted paths. His name is derived from the sound made when walking on its beautiful white sands which is similar to that made by a violin.
If you are a golf player you can enjoy two 18th holes golf courses:
Punta Ala Golf Club (km. 30): it has a fine sea view and a gentle, naturally undulating landscape set in the middle of Maremman woodland, which makes beautiful and natural obstacle for the golfer.
Golf Club Toscana (km. 25): near Gavorrano, offers a good challenge either for high or low handicap players.
With a whole day at disposal you can visit the wonders of: Pisa (Km.100), Firenze (Km.150), Siena (Km.121), Lucca (Km.124), Volterra (Km. 86), and San Gimignano (Km.112).
