The agriturismo

Immersed in the verdant countryside around the noble town of Montepulciano, that boasts ancient Etruscan origins, the estate is perfectly located for exploring Tuscany’s most prized treasures such as Siena (55 km), Cortona (30 Km), and Florence (110 Km).

The accommodation

The main farmhouse, where the Martinellis have resided for generations, has been recently restored with its annexes, and it is now divided into three comfortable double rooms and two comfortable apartments, named after the old craft activities that were formerly carried out in the farm and the use the buildings were intended for.

On the first floor:
Room Il Maniscalco (The Farrier): with a lovely view over the rolling hills towards Montepulciano, terra-cotta floors and original wooden beamed ceilings. This room is furnished with family antiques and fitted with all modern comforts such as Wi-Fi Internet access, window flyscreens, air conditioning, and a large private bathroom with shower and bath.
On the second floor:
Room Lo Stalliere (The Stableman): this room, which is located above the former cattle shed and stables, was the house of the man who used to care after all the animals in the farm. With wooden floors, original wooden beamed ceilings, and nineteenth-century pieces of furniture, this room offers a warm and cosy atmosphere for those who appreciate the atmosphere and flavours of ancient times. It enjoys stunning views of the artistic Tuscan landscape (private bathroom, Wi-fi Internet access, window flyscreens, air conditioning).

In the annexe “Old Oven and Kitchen” next to the main farmhouse:
Room La Nicchia (The Shell): This room is called La nicchia (the shell), since during the renovation works in the ancient walls they found a beautiful fossil shell. This small, cosy and very romantic double room opens directly into the garden. This room is the most sought after by couples on a romantic elopement who use the room as a base for touring the area during the day (private bathroom, Wi-fi Internet access, window flyscreens, air conditioning).
Apartment La Massaia (The country housewife): the name of this room comes from the person who used to spend her full days in this place, in the warm of the stove, cooking delicious roasted meat and fragrant home-made bread. It opens directly into the garden and has a large living room with kitchen area, a romantic double room, private bathroom, mosquito nets on windows, air conditioning and independent heating. This room is ideal for small families, and for those couples who prefer to cook their own food on holidays as well. (Private bathroom, Wi-fi Internet access, window flyscreens, air conditioning)

In the sunny annex, separated from the other, formerly used to shelter citrus trees in wintern time:
Apartment La Limonaia: is set in an annex separated from the other buildings. Its name derives from the use that the building was intended for, i.e. for sheltering citrus plants in wintertime. This ground-floor apartment with one bedroom opens directly into a private garden. It consists of a large living room with kitchen area, one double bedroom, and one private bathroom. It has window fly screens, air conditioning, and central heating. This apartment is particularly suitable for small family groups and for couples seeking for a peaceful haven and absolute privacy. (Private bathroom, Wi-fi Internet access, window flyscreens, air conditioning).

Mediocre
The accommodations were fine and the location was good. However this was not a farm but a place a few kilometres from town. The owner did not make us feel welcome and ran his place by a stringent set of rules. We have stayed on other agritourisimos and always enjoyed the inclusiv... Read more

Dear Mrs Billo, dear Mr. Billo, I am pleased that you enjoyed the apartment you stayed in and the location of our structure. Unfortunately I read with disappointment the rest of your comment. Honestly, I do not understand why you have not felt welcome: we have been flexible and we have adapted to all, all of them, your needs. It's not true? Maybe you forget even when you canceled the cooking class booked months ago, only a few hours before the start of the lesson. Despite our cancellation policy (accepted by you), no penalty has been applied. It was my decision, spontaneous, so I did not expect official thanks. But reading that you did not feel welcome ... offends my professionalism and my kindness. Even the note on the rules amazes us a lot: the freedom of our guests is almost total (as evidenced by previous comments). Maybe you wrote it because I asked you the courtesy of not washing clothes in the sink and not hanging them dripping inside the apartment? Ours is an old farmhouse and although it has been expertly restored it is necessary to have a little more respect for certain things. Honestly, I was disappointed when a little while later I saw that you had hung your laundry on the tent pole inside, soaking up everything. I did not react to provocation. Perhaps you write these things because you are still not satisfied with your stunt? Or maybe the misunderstanding was born during dinner? I remember the disappointment of all the other guests when I had to turn off the background music to satisfy your own request. We also noticed that you were always the first to finish all the dishes we served (I like to see when our guests appreciate our dishes so much to do always "shoe") and that you have waited with great impatience the moment of the cake .. Our idea for dinner is different: people run all year round, at least on holiday we can slow down and put a little 'attention to the taste of genuine food and taste of the last glass of wine, before dessert. Without a doubt, our approach to cooking and "savoir vivre" is typically Italian. Supported by the many appreciations, I think this is another point in our favor!
