    "Just Fabulous!"

    03/16/2019

My husband and I spent several days here in October. We have lived and traveled throughout Europe and Asia and were very impressed with Le Caggiole. We wanted a place that offered vineyards, olive groves and a cooking course. Everything was superb! Giacommo was a great host. We thoroughly enjoyed the cooking course by him and his wife. The dishes were delicious and easy to replicate, which we have many times over. The grounds are relaxing and beautiful. We took several strolls around. We were close enough to Montepulciano for quick trips to explore the town and nearby areas. If we are back in the area, we would stay here again and I have recommended it to close friends who will be traveling in Tuscany. Thank you so much for a fabulous time!

    "Perfectly Wonderful!"

    11/05/2018

My husband and I stayed here for four nights and absolutely loved it! Giacomo was welcoming and helpful and always willing to give recommendations on where to eat, how to get places, and answered any questions we had. Breakfast was delicious and beautiful presented each morning. The room we stayed in was comfortable and exactly what we wanted for our stay - quaint and romantic. The views of the surrounding area were stunning. The town of Montepulciano was close enough to be a convenient place for an evening stroll through classic hill town streets and had great options for dining. There's a laundromat just outsid the main entrance of the town so it was easy for us to do some wash and enjoy a glass of wine at the bar next door. We did a lot of exploring through Tuscany and found this was a great place to be based. We enjoyed the scenic drives to Siena, Volterra; San Gimignano, Pienza, and a few others. I would definitely stay here again and also recommend Le Caggiole to anyone looking for a Tuscan experience of hospitality.

    "Not an agritourismo"

    09/26/2018

The accommodations were fine and the location was good. However this was not a farm but a place a few kilometres from town. The owner did not make us feel welcome and ran his place by a stringent set of rules. We have stayed on other agritourisimos and always enjoyed the inclusiveness of the experience. Not here!

    Agriturismo Le Caggiole answers
Dear Mrs Billo, dear Mr. Billo, I am pleased that you enjoyed the apartment you stayed in and the location of our structure. Unfortunately I read with disappointment the rest of your comment. Honestly, I do not understand why you have not felt welcome: we have been flexible and we have adapted to all, all of them, your needs. It's not true? Maybe you forget even when you canceled the cooking class booked months ago, only a few hours before the start of the lesson. Despite our cancellation policy (accepted by you), no penalty has been applied. It was my decision, spontaneous, so I did not expect official thanks. But reading that you did not feel welcome ... offends my professionalism and my kindness. Even the note on the rules amazes us a lot: the freedom of our guests is almost total (as evidenced by previous comments). Maybe you wrote it because I asked you the courtesy of not washing clothes in the sink and not hanging them dripping inside the apartment? Ours is an old farmhouse and although it has been expertly restored it is necessary to have a little more respect for certain things. Honestly, I was disappointed when a little while later I saw that you had hung your laundry on the tent pole inside, soaking up everything. I did not react to provocation. Perhaps you write these things because you are still not satisfied with your stunt? Or maybe the misunderstanding was born during dinner? I remember the disappointment of all the other guests when I had to turn off the background music to satisfy your own request. We also noticed that you were always the first to finish all the dishes we served (I like to see when our guests appreciate our dishes so much to do always "shoe") and that you have waited with great impatience the moment of the cake .. Our idea for dinner is different: people run all year round, at least on holiday we can slow down and put a little 'attention to the taste of genuine food and taste of the last glass of wine, before dessert. Without a doubt, our approach to cooking and "savoir vivre" is typically Italian. Supported by the many appreciations, I think this is another point in our favor!

    05/31/2018

This was our first Trip to Italy and our first experience in an agriturismo. What a great concept. We spent three nights. Accommodations were terrific. The hosts were very friendly and helpful in planning our stay in the area. They fixed a superb dinner for us one of the evenings of our stay.

    "Overwhelmingly beautiful"

    05/05/2018

Our stay at Le Caggiole was one of the most beautiful, enriching, and transporting experiences of our life. The place itself is beyond anything we imagined, even after being so drawn to it by everything we saw and read on the website. It is a paradise - with stunning views of the countryside, and exquisitely restored stone buildings, and after parking your car you walk toward the reception area inhaling the fantastic perfume of flowering trees and plants.

But the real magic of Le Caggiole lies in the people who take care of it and who live there. Our receptionist, Monica, who also takes care of the rooms every day, welcomed us more warmly than anyone at any new place we can remember, and gave us a map of the area on which she marked the top restaurants in Montepulciano and the best parking spots near them. She explained that our host, Giacomo - who was busy teaching a cooking class in the kitchen for some guests - chose these restaurants for their high-quality ingredients and cooking. Our dinner was fantastic.

The next morning we met Giacomo, who immediately extended himself with uncommon openness and warmth. Giacomo was an amazing host - he has a deep connection to the land, and his family has lived at Le Caggiole for six generations. He shared his love for the place and for the Italian way of life with such inspiration and generosity that we feel we have brought Tuscany home with us. Many hosts can recommend things to do and see on your trip. But Giacomo shares his deep heart feeling for everything he recommends, which made us feel strongly connected to each place we visited. We felt part of the lineage of human beings who have appreciated and created such incredible beauty.

We also experienced the generosity of Giacomo, his lovely wife Cristiana, and Monica, in a special dinner they prepared for us and several other guests one night. For these dinners, Giacomo selects the freshest and best ingredients. I didn't know that a simple salad of lettuce and tomato could taste so wonderful. And the homemade wine, antipasto, handmade pasta, guinea fowl with herbs and garlic, and a dessert with peaches, cream cheese, and amaretti were all amazing.

If you are thinking of going to Italy, we recommend that you put Le Caggiole at the top of your list. We are deeply grateful for the six magical days we spent there, and we are already looking forward to our return.

"Slow down under the Tuscan sun."

    04/30/2018

We stayed 3 nights at Giacomo's house in a wonderful room. It is a wonderful property surrounded by olive trees and vineyards. It is located very close to Montepulciano.

We have really appreciated the time that Giacomo spent giving us tips about restaurants, cities or wineries that we could visit. Each of the options we took him up on wound up being wonderful. We were the only ones staying at his farm at this time, so we were unable to take advantage of a cooking class, but by the looks of it, it would have been wonderful.

We enjoyed sitting and talking to Giacomo and his wife about their farm, and the Agritruismo lifestyle in Italy, along with the history of his family in that location, and the history of the area. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and agreed that we would share this treasure with anyone we encountered looking to stay in Tuscany.

    "Wonderful experience!"

    10/30/2017

My husband and I stayed at Le Caggiole for three wonderful nights in october! The room perfect, comfy and with a beatiful view of the sun rise. We also had a cooking class with Giacomo and his nice wife! We did a ravioli, meat and a Tiramisu that I can´t wait to try at home. The way they cook and deal with food its very trueful. They cook slow food, with love and all ingredients organic, from near theis home or produced in their farm. They also produce a very good wine and olive oil.
They were on of the first agriturismo in the area!
The location of the agriturismo is perfect also. Is near to Montepulciano but not too much.

"Near Montepulciano - perfect for tasting Italian wine"

    08/18/2016

Great location, just a few minutes by car from Montepulciano. Nice terrace overlooking vineyards, clean and comfy room. The whole experience was professional but a bit impersonal - more like a hotel than an agriturismo. The breakfast lacked savory options but the apple cake was very nice! Unfortunately we did not get to try the dinner as it requires a minimum of 6 people.

"Best part of our tour in Italy"

    10/15/2015

My husband and I stayed in the gorgeous and spacious La Limonaia for a week. The Agritourismo is located in a beautiful spot and the views from our kitchen window were spectacular! Giacomo greeted us upon our arrival and provided us with a refreshing glass of cold white wine to sip on while we chatted about the accomodations and things to do in the neighbourhood. He recommended two restaurants in Montepulciano and we went to both. They were excellent choices. He provided us with a map and directions as required. Each morning we woke up to an array of delectable baked goods, yogurt, cereal, fresh fruit, bread and homemade jams. Nonna baked a new tart or cake each morning and each one was delicious! We were spoiled. The property boasts numerous trees, pomegranate, olive as well as loads of rosemary and thyme bushes along the fence towards our accomodation.
My husband and I participated in a cooking class with Giacomo and his wife. We had so much fun and learned how to make pasta stuffed with a potato filling and their delicious version of Tiramisu. We learned how to prepare and season Guinea fowl and that night we shared the meal with the other guests. Giacomo provided bottles of his 2007 red wine which was very smooth and full bodied and a wonderful compliment to our dinner. It was wonderful and one of my favourite memories of our Italy trip.
Our accomodations were more than we hoped for, they were clean and we had all the necessities required in the kitchen, that is, for when we did choose to eat in for dinner. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of storage space. The washroom was very clean and the shower has excellent water pressure.
We toured several neighbouring towns, Montepulciano, Pienza and went golfing at the nearby Lambourghini golf course. We met some wonderful friends during our stay and shared wine each night on the patio as well as stories of our travels that day. I would definitely recommend a stay at Le Caggiole to anyone visiting Italy and wishing to experience the beauty and food of the Tuscany region.

    "Excellent stay!"

    08/24/2015

This was a pefect holiday in a very special place!

Le Caggiole was our last stop in the trip around Tuscany. We stayed for 6 nights together with our 6-year old son.The place is just fantastic from many points of view:
    - Extreemely nice hosts
    - Excellent rooms (more like a flat, or a house)
    - Very convenient location, close to Montepulchano with lots of restaurants and enotecs, perfect driving distance to many more nice places, small towns, abbeys, thermas, etc

Giacomo was very helpful meeting us upon the arrival, and being there for us all the time of our stay. He knows everything about this great region, and we used a lot of his time asking how to better plan our daily trips, where to buy local cheese and wine, what are the places that would be interesting for the kid, etc. We would not be able to visit so many nice places in the area without help from Giacomo.

Some words about food. Big Thanks to mama Ornella for the wonderful breakfasts! There was plenty of food, with homemade cakes, yogurts, cereal, milk, coffe, tea, fruits - etc, etc. Excellent start for the day!
We also joined dinner cooked by Giacomo and his wonderful wife Cristiana - I do not have enough words to describe this experience. This is an absolute must in case you want to experience traditional Tuscany food, cooked by people who like their region and who are the best in cooking! The food was really delicious, the atmosphere was great, the wine was extremely good - again, this was unforgettable experience, and we are very thankful to our wonderful hosts!

We would love to come back one day, as no matter how much time you spend in the area, there are always new places to discover or wine to taste, and Giacomo will be glad to give his advice. And we for sure recommend this place to all our friends!

"A Great Time at Le Caggiole"

    07/06/2015

We stayed at Le Caggiole for two nights during our honeymoon to Tuscany and really had a great time. The location is very close to Montepulciano, so it is easy to go in and out of the town.

The highlight of our stay was the cooking class and the dinner that followed. We came away inspired and more knowledgeable to the cooking techniques of pasta and especially tiramisu. Then we ate the meal we helped prepare, and when we left the next day we had the knowledge to make those things again in our own homes.

    "Our Romantic Italian getaway"

    06/09/2014

I cannot say enough about Le Caggiole... It was the most beautiful property with amazing views of the countryside of Tuscany. Our room the Massaia was more like a house instead of a room... we had our own kitchen with a beautiful bay window that opened up to the view of the countryside. The bathroom was incredibly spacious, with a bidet and a very spacious shower and a great shower head.. lots of hot water for a nice shower...

The bedroom was also amazing with windows that opened up to the same view... and in the morning you could hear the birds chriping and smell the fresh country air...the bed was nice and big and very comfortable. The entire property is simply amazing - we saw geese, rabbits, pheasants, and birds everywhere.. the property is beauitful.. it was so much more than I expected.

Now, on to the best part... the owners of Le Caggiole..Giacomo, his beautiful wife Cristiana, their adorable little girl and of course his mother nonna Ornella... oh, how we enjoyed meeting these amazing beautiful people. Upon arrival we were greeted by Giacomo, who was more than accommodating and helpful with anything we needed... and he was cooking this most incredible sauce for dinner that evening... and if I tell you my mouth watered just by smelling it...

The property is perfectly located ... very close to the center of town and all the shops and restaurants and attractions.

The next morning, of course breakfast inside the main building with a beautiful wood table for 20 or so... very big, and in the family for centuries... the best part of breakfast was nonna Ornella... I fell in love instantly with this amazing woman... she hand makes all the pastries and cakes every morning at 6am... breakfast was fabulous, with homemade honey (oh, I didn't mention.. but they have their own bees who produce this delicious wonderful honey...) coffee, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereals, milk, etc...etc... etc... I cannot express how gracious they treated us...

Then, one of the best part of our stay, was the cooking class!!! OMG.... we made homemade tortelli di patate... it's like ravioli of sorts... homemade the pasta dough, the filling and enjoyed an afternoon of heaven with Giacomo and Cristiana... we also made homemade Tiramisu..

We stayed for 8 nights... and honestly I could have stayed for months... upon leaving we felt we were leaving family... I highly recommend Le Caggiole to anyone who wants to experience the beauty, tastes and warmness of Tuscany.
