The agriturismo

A recently renovated, early 18th century farmstead right in the heart of the Val d’Orcia natural and cultural park offers the most exclusive privacy to enjoy a breathtaking view and have a comfortable, regenerating holiday.

The accommodation

In 2010, careful, scrupulous restoration of the whole farmstead was begun; the original structure was retained and materials salvaged from the farmstead were reused.

French windows lead into the living zone on the ground floor: on the right is a fully-equipped kitchen in Italian walnut with refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher, a large worktop around the hob and oven, a large, solid timber table and comfy chairs; on the left, in the living area, are two cosy sofas and Sat-TV on a stone wall. A very modern bathroom with washing machine and shower, also fitted out for the use of disabled people is located along a wide hallway with brick and stone arches. Finally, the last room is a very welcoming studio-bedroom that can adapt to suit the guests’ needs: this is a studio with a writing desk and bookcase, Sat-TV and a large, comfortable sofa that can be converted into a double bed. This room leads out onto a small courtyard paved with dry stone salvaged during renovations.

Back in the hallway, the travertine stairway is lit with LEDs to create a suggestive atmosphere and leads up to the first floor, which has an entry leading into three bedrooms with three bathrooms.

Lilla: double room with a large, painted wrought iron bed, two side tables, a wardrobe and a solid wood chest. The very modern bathroom has a relaxing shower and the room includes Sat-TV.

Oro: the master bedroom has a large, black wrought iron bed, two side tables, a large wardrobe and a solid wood chest. It has a small but perfectly functional bathroom with a spacious shower and it includes Sat-TV.

Glicine: this room has black wrought iron twin beds, two side tables, a wardrobe, a solid wood chest and Sat-TV. The very modern bathroom located in the hallway is for the exclusive use of guests in this room and is fitted with a central shower stall.

Each rooms has exposed beams and old “mezzana” brickwork. The windows are not very big but, like paintings, look over the surrounding panorama.

Outside, guests can make the most of the garden and eat outdoors under a delightful equipped gazebo. 

Activities and surrounding

The farmstead is located between Pienza and San Quirico d’Orcia, right in the heart of the Val d’Orcia natural park; its guests can go for enchanting hikes and bike-rides amongst the rich flora and fauna, with different levels of difficulty for trekking. From the farmstead it is possible to get to Via Francigena and visit the townships a short distance away, including Bagno Vignoni (old hot springs), Castiglione d’Orcia and its rock, plus other towns.

The local territory offers marked trails, indicating the length of the hike, attractions to watch out for and the degree of difficulty.

The surrounding areas are full of towns of art: Montepulciano and its historical centre, Chiusi, which has the museum and numerous Etruscan tombs, the poor theatre “Teatro Povero” in Monticchiello, naturally in addition to Pienza and San Quirico, small architectural masterpieces.  

The cities of art of Siena and Florence are easy to get to.

While you are a guest, as well as enjoying the excellent Tuscan cuisine, you can also pamper yourself with a dive into the spa waters that are full of beneficial properties: in particular, the thermal springs of Bagno Vignoni and Bagni San Filippo or the sensory spa of Chianciano. At the farmstead you can request a massage from expert staff who use the old science of foot reflexology.

A few kilometres away is Mount Amiata, where sports activities are available year-round on its 1738 m altitude: from spring to autumn, rejuvenating walks along marked tracks of varying difficulties; in winter, several ski runs as well as the possibility of cross-country skiing.
