The agriturismo
Traditional Salento farm, located overlooking the Serra di Montevergine hills which, like a real natural rocky terrace, face east, towards Otranto, and west towards Gallipoli with a striking view over olive groves and villages.
The accommodation
Surrounded by olive trees, pine forests and typical Mediterranean scrubland with paths accessible in an area belonging to the agriturismo measuring approximately 20 hectares, this is the historical and cultural encapsulation of the Salento landscape and offers countless opportunities for nature and art enthusiasts.
The two apartments have a private kitchen, bathroom and bedroom, and feature heating, air conditioning and all amenities. Large outdoor areas with the former barnyard and a handy natural stone barbecue. Services also include a wireless internet connection.
Activities and surrounding
50 m away is the Spernozzata cave (a Byzantine Laura dating from the iconoclasm period), Pajari and dry stone walls, with an admirable construction technique, menhirs, bearing witness to human presence since Neolithic times and, at the top of the hill, 500 m away, the Monte Vergine sanctuary, which provides stimulation for a trip in time and space, in the need for human sacredness.
From the agriturismo, it is easy to reach important places of tourist and cultural interest along the Adriatic coast (5 minutes’ drive away) and Ionian coast (half an hour away) including Otranto, Gallipoli and Lecce.
Festivals, events to celebrate patron saints and fairs enliven the evenings in the many surrounding villages throughout the year.
