The agriturismo

Family run organic farm, in the Chianti Hills only 5 km North of Siena, at an altitude of 250 m. The agriturismo with a 300 ha surface of pasture, wood, vineyard, olive grove, sowable land, produces wine, olive oil and sheep milk. The facility, in the peace of the countryside of Siena, proposes accommodation in flats. Easy and homely hospitality.

The accommodation

An unsurfaced road leads to the agriturismo, crossing a picturesque silvery olive grove.

The facility offers accommodation in two ancient stone farm-houses named Mezzapiaggia and La Carpella, and proposes flats that have recently undergone renovation preserving the old building materials.
Each flat is fitted with equipped kitchen, independent heating system, TV, fridge, oven, washing machine, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, mosquito nets and an outdoor veranda for enjoying meals in the open air.
The flats feature one or two bedrooms. Crib and baby chair are available for young children.
Some flats have a fireplace for which wood and a barbecue grill will be supplied. In both the gardens there are a barbecue and a playground for everybody’s use.

The two farm-houses Mezzapiaggia and La Carpella are 500 m away from each other. The swimming pool, usable by all the guests, is located at Mezzapiaggia.

The flats Estate, Elicriso, Zefiro e Primavera are In Mezzapiaggia farm-house and the flats Il Mulino and Meliloto are at La Carpella.                                 

An old barn has been converted into another flat for the guests, “La Capannina”, ten minutes by car from the agritourism. This small house is situated in panoramic position with open view on a very beautiful valley on one side and on the enchanting hamlet of Basciano on the other. An ideal solution for who requires privacy.

Activities and surrounding

The agriturismo is situated in the Chianti Hills just 5 km North of Siena; near the major lines of communication leading to the most renowned places, like San Gimignano, Volterra, Montepulciano, Firenze.

The owners of the company will be pleased to suggest also less famous, but inviting sights: a river and a hot water spring where you can bathe, the Senese territory is rich in thermal water; the open air markets and the festivals, the historical villas with their gardens and the artistic parks, which are authentic surprises in the very heart of the countryside, perfect mixtures of art and nature. Information material on the events in the province of Siena is always available on the premises. The agriturismo is in contact with trekking, horse riding or mountain bike excursions organizers.
Besides excursions, it will be pleasant to enjoy the agriturismo where you can attend the farming activities and get to know the animals, taste the vegetables from the kitchen garden along with the company’s products: wine, cheese, olive oil, jam, eggs. You can also go walking in the wood, ride one of the bicycles, which are at guests’ disposal, exploring the neighbourhood, have fun in the swimming pool open May to September (opening and closing dates depend on weather conditions), play ping-pong, a swing and slide are available for children’s amusement, or relax on a hammock in the garden to then try out the barbecue in the evening.

We're sorry Christine that you were somewhat disappointed with your stay, although we can say in fairness and in our defence that some of the things that seemed like surprises to you on arrival can be acquired by reading our pages both on Agriturismo.it and on our personal website.
For example, the extra cost of heating (not hot water) is specified among the additional costs.
As well as among the information it is written that the swimming pool is open from May to September and that the opening and closing dates vary according to weather conditions.
Even the presence of the motorway and the train is not hidden and despite this presence we are happy because people come back and this means that they find something in the place and in our welcome that surpasses that.
Regarding the photos: our farm has several sites/cottages as also described on Agriturismo.it and on our personal website, and photos of all of them are shown. On the home page of our site is a photo of the farm headquarters, where you have been, you have been welcomed and where you have been able to taste our products in our shop. We therefore regret to read that you did not experience the farm. Unfortunately, we were not able to accompany you to the vineyard as you wished, we had commitments that did not allow us to do so, and you only had a few days to make up for it, but at least you were shown how to get there on a walk.However, we hope that some good memories will accompany you.
