The agriturismo
In the Maremma Park, just 3 km from the sea and the stunning beaches of Talamone, an old convent formerly belonging to the Benedictine and Cistercian monks, used as a resting place by pilgrims travelling to Terrasanta, owned by the Biozzi family since the early 1900s and transformed into a farm growing organic crops and rearing cattle.
The accommodation
The stone farmhouse, nestled in an enchanting setting of 300 hectares of natural beauty, is surrounded by Mediterranean shrubland, age-old olive groves and pastures where the free-range Maremmana cattle graze.
The comfortable, cosy apartments and rooms, accommodating between 2 and 6 people, are tastefully furnished and accessible to disabled guests, and include heating and private bathrooms.
The farm produces organic cereals, oil and honey, and offers educational activities for schools.
Activities and surrounding
From the ports of Talamone and S.Stefano, visitors can take a boat trip to the Islands of Giglio and Giannutri. Cruises, sailing boat hire, rubber dinghies and fishing trips are also available. In the bay there are kitesurfing and windsurfing schools for experts and beginners, while the inland offers canoeing and fishing on the Ombrone river, excursions through the Maremma Park on foot, by bike or on horseback, characteristic towns to discover such as Pitigliano, Sorano, Capalbio with its Giardino dei Tarocchi (The Tarot Garden) and Etruscan remains in Cosa a Roselle and Sovana. In spring and autumn, the Saturnia spa centre with its waterfalls is especially inviting.
