The agriturismo
Podere Timignano, a short distance from a medieval village in the hills between Siena and Volterra, is a quaint Tuscan stone farmhouse surrounded by fields and woods.
The calm and silence make it the perfect place to relax, recharge or work remotely in touch with nature, on the private terrace, under the shade of the pergola or by the pool.
The accommodation
The agritourism consists of 3 completely independent apartments, two of which are obtained from the main building and one, about 30 away, is a brand new eco-house built in green building. Each unit has a full kitchen and private outdoor spaces.
The Timignano unit, which has been in operation since the 1990s, is a self-contained apartment with a separate entrance, a shaded furnished pergola, two bedrooms and a private back terrace from which one can enjoy spectacular sunsets against the backdrop of the nearby hills. The apartment, accessed through a small loggia and a flight of internal stairs, consists of a modern and well-equipped kitchen/living room, a spacious double bedroom and a smaller bedroom with two single beds (can be made into a second double bedroom upon request), and a bathroom with shower on the ground floor.
Il Nascondiglio, is a studio made out of the back of the main farmhouse in the premises of an old stable. The space combines rural Tuscan architecture and minimalism. It consists of a single open space with a full and fully equipped kitchen for all needs, dining/living area with sofa bed and double bedroom, as well as a separate bathroom with shower, bidet, toilet and sink.
The outdoor space has 2 areas with tables and chairs for exclusive use, brick barbecue and small loggia at the entrance.
The new Eco-house, which was designed and built with sustainable materials and techniques, is located a few tens of meters from the main cottage and is set in a large private garden surrounded by olive trees. It has a large covered patio and large outdoor areas for exclusive use. The interior, intentionally left as an MPV, is spacious and minimalistic.
The owners live and work on the property and have their own apartment and outdoor space. Privacy and discretion are guaranteed, but they are always available for any eventuality, advice or information. Guests are free to explore the entire property, olive groves, fields and woods.
The swimming pool is about 20 meters from the main building and has 3 areas equipped with sun loungers and deck chairs.
Activities and surrounding
The property is located in the municipality of Casole d'Elsa, a predominantly agricultural area with low population density.
In the immediate vicinity of the farmhouse one can venture along ancient rural roads and woodland paths. The extensive forests to the west of the property, beyond the Cecina River-where it is possible to bathe in crystal-clear waters-are directly accessible from Timignano and are part of the Berignone Protected Area, one of the largest in Tuscany.
The many marked trails provide endless opportunities for hiking and mountain biking as well as the chance to observe local flora and fauna.
Medieval villages perched on the surrounding hills offer fantastic views, quaint stone-paved streets and alleyways, imposing churches and castles, a taste of the local pace of life, and good restaurants, one of which is 5 minutes from Timignano. The metalliferous hills, which have been exploited for geothermal energy for more than a century, offer lunar landscapes and warm waters in which to soak even in winter.
Of course there is also classic Tuscany, with Siena, Volterra and San Gimignano about 40 minutes away, Florence an hour, and the Tyrrhenian coast just over an hour away.
