Casa Zuffada, a magical spot at the heart of the Oltrepo' Pavese, amidst vines, woodland and meadows.
Built entirely from stone, the agriturismo sits atop a hill in the commune of Ruino, at 600 m altitude, with 360 degree views stretching right to Monte Rosa, Milan and Monte Penice.
The agriturismo offers peace, tranquillity, simplicity, silence and a love for nature. Stroll through the meadows and vineyards, breathe clean air at 600 metres, run, explore by bike or on horseback, admire starry nights. Switch off from everyday life, slow down and rejuvenate.
The estate comprises 20 hectares of woodland, meadows, fruit trees and a vineyard of 7000 Pinot Nero plants, delivering around 7000 bottles at full production of the highest quality Metodo Classico, to capture the perfumes of this place.
The accommodation
The agriturismo is the result of a skilful, patient renovation process which took over 5 years, carried out in complete respect for the original structure and the building’s history, using only natural materials and renewable energy sources.
There are two double rooms, with private bathrooms and underfloor heating. The lounge with wood burning stove and dining room where you can enjoy generous breakfasts in front of the open fire are both available for guests to use freely.
Activities and surrounding
Nearby you’ll find the Torre degli Alberi Castle (owned by the Dal Verme family) - where there is a funeral stele from the Julio-Claudian era dedicated to Ottone Macedone and Pollia - and the Sanctuary of Montelungo whose history dates back to the time of Charlemagne.
You can also visit the many castles of the Oltrepò, explore historic and characteristic towns such as Canevino, Zavattarello, Varzi, Golferenzo and Santa Maria della Versa, taste renowned wines at the local wine cellars and sample the delights of the Oltrepò at excellent restaurants (Prato Gaio, Sasseo, Verde Sosta).
A stone’s throw away you’ll find the Boscasso farm, which produces delightful goat’s milk cheeses.
