The agriturismo
In Sant'Alfio, in a hilly spot (600 m) in the Etna Park, a farm surrounded by greenery, mainly dedicated to nomadic beekeeping (1025 hives) and transforming bee products.
The farm produces whole raw cold extracted honey (orange, lemon, wildflower, eucalyptus, chestnut, thyme, honeydew, thistle), honey creams, dried fruit in honey, candle wax, pollen, propolis and royal jelly.
All of these products are available for purchase on site.
The accommodation
In San'Alfio, in a hilly position (600 m) in the Etna Park, the farm is surrounded by greenery and is mainly engaged in nomadic beekeeping (1025 hives) and the processing of apiary products.
The Agriturismo is composed of 1 independent accommodation, with kitchen, toilets, equipped outdoor areas, barbecue and parking. Guests, on request, can attend the honey extraction activities and can taste many typical local products.
The educational farm welcomes schools and groups to let them admire the life of the bee and its fundamental role in the environment, with different routes for different ages and the support of a professional educator.
Outside there is a large free parking lot, large playground on the lawn and you have the opportunity to see and interact with some of the animals of the minizoo.
Activities and surrounding
Guests can watch the honey extraction, enjoy educational classes and tours, taste local produce or use the bicycles provided to explore this spectacular region. A variety of workshops are available, from bread-making to aromatic plants, wine production and/or tasting and oil tasting.
Be sure to visit the ?Castagno dei Cento Cavalli?, a chestnut tree that is centuries old, located at the heart of Sant'Alfio, as well as Etna itself, and the eighteenth century Chiesa Madre church, also in Sant'Alfio, with its lava stone facade.
The estate stands halfway between the mountains and the sea: just a short distance from ski slopes, but also pathways for exploring on foot. Nearby you?ll also find a theme park, the Citelli refuge and wine cellars.
