Via Madonna della Libertà, 129, San Leonardello 95014 Giarre (Catania)
We are very close to the Etna, near Giarre. We offer hospitality on a 19th-century residence, with 12 hectares of citrus grove, organic certified in 2012, where we grow Navel oranges, Nova mandarins, lemons and pomegranates. We also own a strip of land nearby with olive grove, citrus trees, almond and pear trees.
The sea, between Catania and Taormina, makes this place perfect for a vacation in nature in one of Sicily’s most beautiful areas.
The owners warmly and cordially welcome guests: you may book B&B style or half-meal plan. Our breakfasts are hearty, with sweet and salty food, plus cold meats, cheese, grains, jams (homemade).
We offer 5 comfortable rooms and a mini flat. The rooms have period pieces, with private bath and shower, blow dryer, heating, desk, TV.
Our restaurant (open until 10 pm) offers seasonal specialties, genuine food, and Sicilian cooking, and you may dine outdoors weather permitting, refreshed by the air from the sea.
You may savor and buy our products: orange and lemon jam, extra virgin olive oil, almonds, fresh fruit (oranges, pears, mandarins, lemons).
Eastern Sicily is full of wonders, starting with the Etna, the highest active volcano on the European continent. Many attractions to see: natural reserves, hamlets and towns with a rich past like Taormina (Greek theater), Catania with its homes in lava stone, temples in the Anapo valley, the extraordinary baroque art in Acireale.
The land is rich in certified products: almonds, pistachios, oil, honey, citrus, prickly pears. Without forgetting very fresh fish and wines from the Etna.
Inform the agriturismo of any animals at the time of booking.

We were a week in early April and were very satisfied. The room was very spacious, simple and elegantly furnished and had a good functioning heating, because the weather was very bad. The location between the sea and Etna is very scenic, but is a partly noisy country road nearby. But the connection in all directions is quite good, if one wants excursions or walks. Very special was the food, original Sicilian cooked by the host family itself! There were four courses each evening fresh and lovingly prepared and always very delicious. Also for vegetarians there was always a great alternative (however one should announce in advance, if you want vegetarian food!).

We were one week at Il Melograno. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Very good local dishes in the evening, made by family - we really enjoyed this. A quite place, thanks to location on a hill (the way from street to house is a challenge for the driver) far enough from streets. You have a view to both, the ocean and the Etna. The huge orange farm makes it possible to have a 3km run on the facility. If one loves agriturismo it's definitly worth a visit.
Giarre is nice but to make the best of your time you really need a car. It's 40 min from Catania and Taormina.
There were two of 3 nights at Il Melograno and it was a very nice stay. We were received with great hospitality. The rooms are tastefully decorated and cozy. The location is good overlooking the sea and also in the other direction on the Etna, but you can hear the relatively close running road. Otherwise Giarre is also well suited as a starting point to the Etna and the northeast of Sicily to explore. The food was very good and the breakfast was very balanced for Italian standards.
