In the countryside of Alia, a small commune of the South-West side of the Madonie, the agriturismo offers cosy accommodation on an estate cultivated with fruit trees, olive trees and vegetables.
Exposed stone, wood, wrought iron and ceramics bring all the charm of times past to the agriturismo's interiors. From the windows, guests can enjoy wonderful views of the beautiful valleys of the Sicilian inland.
The rooms are all furnished in Arte Povera style, and comprise bathrooms, AC, heating, TVs, hairdryers, internet and, during winter, individual heated blankets. The two junior suites, also with bathrooms, are located separately at the top of the farm, and enjoy breathtaking valley views.
The agriturismo’s kitchen serves Nonna’s traditional recipes, prepared with care and revisited as necessary: breads and pizzas made from local flour ground in ancient mills, using a sourdough starter produced by soaking fruit.
The agriturismo offers excursions by bicycle, on foot, by jeep and on horseback, as well as helicopter tours, and cookery classes with Lino the chef, in which participants learn how to match dishes with local wines, with particular focus on native vines. Guests can tour the wine cellar, the vines and the dairy (with tasting of typical produce).
Group tours are also available: Sicily Street Food, an excursion into art, history, culture and street food; Mare e Monti, Sea and Mountains – a journey through the beautiful scenery of Marsala and the inland, comparing the food and wine of the mountains and the sea; Vintage Tour, enjoy wine cellar tours and discover food produced using period tools; Tour della Sicila, a tour of Sicily’s main destinations in under 2 hours, with the agriturismo as its final stop. The Gurfa Caves are also worth a visit, a fine example of rupestrian architecture, dating back to the Bronze Age.

We very enjoyed our time in the agriturismo lago verde. The accomodation spend space for a lot of people and is equiped very nice. The food which is served in the restaurant was very delicious. We especially valued the hospitality and the warmth of the owner. Vincenzo can speak English very well and gave us a lot of advices for activities around the area. One of our highlight was at a holiday day, when the family invited a lot of friends and arranged a BBQ. We were also invited, could taste the delicious meat & the side dishes and got to know the sicilian culture. At another day, we booked a cooking class with the head cook Lino. Despite some language problems, we learned a lot about the kitchen of sicilian food.
We very estimated the familiar atmosphere of the accomodation and the hospitable kind of the family. Thanks a lot for the unforgetable stay in lago verde.
