The agriturismo

The Gasserhof in St. Leonhard close to Brixen lies on the slopes of the Plose mountain above the Brixen basin.
Th farm is well away from the town and busy roads and set in wonderful natural surroundings. Children can play here in safety, experience nature up close and personal, gather valuable life experience and learn a lot.

The accommodation

The well-appointed rooms (two, three and four beds) , are all equipped with a shower/WC and balcony for a wonderful panoramic view.
If you need one, we will be happy to make a cot available for your child.
On a morning you can enjoy a vitamin-filled, healthy farm breakfast in our dining room, with our own milk, homemade jams and vegetables from the garden.
South Tyrolean delicacies and Italian specialities await you here at the Gasserhof.

Our kitchen will treat you to local dishes, such as cheese dumplings, goulash, apple strudel and Italian dishes such as spaghetti Bolognese, lasagne or Ossobuco.
Depending on the season we refine our dishes with produce from our vegetable and herb garden.

The meat comes either direct from our own animals or is bought from local farmers and butchers.
You can also enjoy fruit jams made from fruit grown on the farm depending on what we have in stock.
We will be pleased to give you the recipe for your favourite dish to take home with you and give you a few hints from the kitchen.

Activities and surrounding

As a base, the Gasserhof offers you plenty of opportunities for enjoying your leisure time.
Hikers will find plenty to keep them occupied on the nearby Plose mountain. An easy trip takes you by cable car from the village of St. Andrä up into the mountains as far as Kreuztal. From there in about an hour you can take the gently climbing path to the Ross Alp. This route provides fantastic panoramic views, and is a wonderful stroll on the mountain. Once you arrive at the Ross Alp, there’s a thrilling playground for your children and you can enjoy a tasty lunch or a hearty Marende snack on the sun terrace while keeping an eye on the kids.

For more challenging walks you can start directly from the farm and hike to the Plose via farmland and the Ochsen Alp. And you can always use cable car to get home!
Mountaineering enthusiasts should take in sunrise on the Peitler mountain. To do this, start early in the morning and head via Afers to the Würzjoch and then scale the peak of the 2,875 m high mountain. When you get there you’ll be rewarded with a wonderful view of the Dolomites, the Gader Valley and the Zillertal and Ötztal Alps.

You can also take a leisurely walk of discovery around our village and visit the church of St. Leonhard. The original building was consecrated as early as 1194. A noteworthy feature of the church is the heavy iron chain that winds one and a half times around the building. This chain was made by the village smithy from the horseshoes left on the church doors by coachmen in thanks and prayer to their patron saint, St. Leonhard.
Another must for your holiday is a visit to the old diocesan town of Brixen.
There is barely another town in South Tyrol that has as impressive an atmosphere as the town on the Eisack river. In cultural terms, Brixen is worth a visit, and a leisurely stroll through the streets and alleyways by shops and inns is always full of interest.
Vines and chestnuts herald the Mediterranean, and the delicate beauty of the Dolomites with its wonderful hiking and ski slopes is also within sight.
The multitude of different shops, the Acquarena, a large indoor and outdoor pool complex with gyms and health and fitness facilities, and the many historic sights are not to be missed.
Winter brings a whole host of leisure activities to the Plose ski area. Be it downhill or cross-country skiing, snowboarding or snowshoe walking, you are sure to find an activity that you enjoy. The ski school provides skiing and snowboarding lessons both for beginners and the more advanced, and the huts around the ski resort invite you to drop in for a snack and some après ski.
A holiday at the Gasserhof will be one for your children to remember. They will be able to gather impressions in the natural surroundings, the garden, the forest or in the stables that they will not soon forget, and learn how to live in harmony with nature and to respect it.
Our children, Armin and Jasmin, will be delighted to play with your children. They are happy to share the many toys around the sand pit, and the swing, toy cart, Bobby cars and pedal cars.
On an evening the children can see farm life at first hand by watching the work in the stable and the cows being milked and fed.
In summer, when the grass is mowed and the hay gathered in, anyone is welcome to join in and test their strength against others.
For rainy days we have board games, books, puzzles and much more, all of which you are welcome to borrow.
