Located just 4 km from Scansano, 18 km from Saturnia and 30 km from the beaches of the Argentario,Agriturismo Podere Carbone is a typical and old stone farmhouse recently restored, nestled in the widely unspoiled Maremma hills between Scansano and Saturnia and a strategic starting point for countless excursions.
The Doliana family welcomes guests to share the peace and beauty of these places - a place where you can truly "empty your head" and recharge your vital energies - ideal therefore also for "workation"!
The accommodation
The farm lies on an area of 6.5 hectares of meadowland-primarily used for grazing the property's horses-, olive groves and scrubland.
The structure is articulated as a small, ancient hamlet formed by the large main farmhouse, where the owners' family lives and on whose ground floor is the "Antico" apartment, and four other outbuildings: the largest of which houses the "Stella Sud" and "Stella Nord" apartments; a second, on the other hand, has a room used for the organization of various activities that take place at certain times of the year (language courses, yoga groups, wellness and experiential seminars).
The three comfortable apartments, sleeping 2-6 people, are obtained from the old rural structures renovated with the utmost respect for the original forms and furnished with style, love and quality. Each has a double bedroom, a living room with a possible additional bed, dining space with a well-equipped kitchenette, bathroom and a spacious terrace with fantastic views of the Maremma hills. In two of them there is also a very nice loft structure with additional sleeping space.
The farmhouse is designed for those who want to be completely independent of schedules and facilities: for this reason there is no food service or breakfast.
Activities and surrounding
Scansano is an ancient Maremma town located in a panoramic position, with a characteristic medieval old town and still intact rural life, but equipped with excellent infrastructure such as typical restaurants and trattorias, wine bars of great quality and style, nice coffee bars and various shopping outlets. Also: several wine cellars of producers of Morellino di Scansano!
The farmhouse is located 4 km from Scansano, 20 minutes from the hot sulphurous baths of Saturnia, 30 minutes from the beautiful beaches of the Costa d'Argento (Argentario, Ansedonia, Talamone), 10 minutes from the Albegna River, a romantic river landscape where you can also bathe.
There are many destinations for nature walks with breathtaking landscapes and for unforgettable trips in the surroundings of historical-tourist nature(Pitigliano, Sovana, Sorano, Roselle), art ( Niki de Saint-Phalle's Tarot Garden, Daniel Spoerri's Garden and other museums) and nature (the Maremma Natural Park, numerous WWF oases, the peninsula of'Argentario, the Giglio and Giannutri islands ) and so on to Lake Bolsena, Orvieto, Siena, Florence and Rome.
Italian language and culture courses for foreigners are available on request, as well as courses in gentle riding and natural relationship with horses, splendid horseback riding and trekking (with expert outside guides), guided excursions both in nature and to places of culture and art, and a full program of experiential seminars , as well as the possibility of tasting the unsurpassed olive oil directly from the producer.
The region is also a paradise for cyclists, both road and mountain bikes: endless opportunities for outings on paved roads, both primary and secondary, mostly in good condition, with very little traffic and varying degrees of difficulty. Same goes for off-road: a vast network of dirt roads, tracks and trails in wild and unspoiled landscapes, for unforgettable adventures.
