The agriturismo
Surrounded by 8 hectares of land, criss-crossed by streams and covered with age old olive trees and vines, the agriturismo is just 3 km from the commune of Monsummano Terme, known for its luxurious spa, and in the immediate vicinity of Montecatini Terme, a hilltop city accessible via a characteristic century old funicular railway.
15 km away you will find Vinci, the birth place of Leonardo, where the castle houses a museum dedicated to the artist. The picturesque city of Lucca is 30 km away.
The farm produces an excellent extra virgin olive oil.
The accommodation
The villa stands on a farm known for centuries as Gragnano, a name which dates back to Ancient Rome: at that time, the land was awarded, as was customary, to the legionary Granius as compensation for military campaigns carried out. It became known as Predium Granianum (the farm of Granio) or simply Granianum, which was then Italianised to Gragnano.
From the time of the city states and the Medici era, the villa preserves its scenic and strategic view of the road which runs from Pisa to Lucca, Pistoia and Florence. Its military role is also reflected by a round section of stone wall which dates back to the XVII century, the likely ruin of a watchtower that preceded the construction of the farmhouse.
Guests can rent the entire structure, or stay in one of the 4 rooms, which include private bathrooms with showers or baths. All rooms are tastefully furnished and decorated, and include Wi-Fi internet. One room is split into two separate rooms, suitable for accommodating a family of four (family room). There is a TV room with open fireplace containing a library of books in different languages.
There is also a swimming pool with solarium, a terrace for relaxing and ample parking.
Activities and surrounding
In the agriturismo’s immediate vicinity you will find an 18 hole golf club in Montecatini, and a popular wellness centrewith a spa pool built inside a cave (Grotta Giusti Natural Spa Resort).
In November, guests can take part in the olive harvesting and pressing.
The agriturismo offers easy access to Monsummano Terme and Montecatini Terme, Pistoia, Vinci, Collodi and Lucca. Pisa, Viareggio and Florence are all within a 60 km radius.
