In Alto Lazio, in the hills around Lake Bolsena, in the heart of the ancient land of Tuscia, a short stroll from Civita di Bagnoregio and Montefiascone, is an agriturismo, a 19th century farmhouse that has been carefully restored and enhanced for the needs of modern hospitality.
The farmhouse, dating back to the mid-nineteenth century, is made of volcanic stone and tuff; for a long time unused, it has been recently renovated taking care to preserve the typical architectural lines of the rural structures of the place, recovering and enhancing most of the original materials, integrating them, where necessary, with others obtained using strictly traditional techniques and raw materials.
The structure can accommodate up to 18 people in three units, all equivalent and autonomous, one on the ground floor (The stable) and two on the first floor (The barns, Themaster's house). Each unit is equipped with independent heating and satellite TV, and furnished with poor art furniture. They all consist of a large entrance-living room with equipped kitchenette, two bedrooms, one with double bed and one with two beds (orthopaedic bed bases and mattresses) each with private bathroom with shower box and hairdryer; hot water throughout the year. On the ground floor there is also a large room (Il Bollettaro) available on request for parties, meetings or as a common room for groups who rent the entire structure.
The residential swimming pool
of 70 square meters with large bathroom and three large green areas, benches, swing and slide for children complete the service offered to guests.
The stable: this housing unit has been obtained from the premises used in the past as a tool shed and stables for animals. Located on the ground floor with two entrances from the outside, it can be prepared for 2, 4 or 6 guests accommodated in 1 or 2 bedrooms with private porch. Particularly practical for access and livability, is characterized by a quiet and restful atmosphere.
The barns: housing unit located on the first floor, occupies the old barns and is accessible by an open staircase that ends with a nice porch. It can be prepared for 2, 4 or 6 guests in 1, 2 or 3 bedrooms. The day area, with sofa bed and kitchenette, is facing north and the porch lends itself to a serene and relaxing stay.
The owner's house: it is the old manor house. Located on the first floor, it is accessible by an open staircase that opens into a large porch. In addition to the normal configuration for 4 guests, on request, it can also be prepared for 2 or 6 guests in 1, 3 or 4 bedrooms respectively. With the living area facing south, this unit is characterized by its brightness and wide horizons.
Il Bollettaro: the oldest part of the farmhouse from which, while maintaining the original structure, it has obtained a large living room with large fireplace, kitchen with wood oven and a porch; it is used for parties or as a common room for those who rent the entire house.
The structure is located in a dominant position, in the center of the farm owned for fifty hectares and cultivated with cereals and pasture forage, all conducted with organic farming techniques. It is a territory banned from hunting, it is populated by wildlife including, dominant, the hare, porcupine, badger and hedgehog, in the appropriate periods are frequent birds of prey such as hawks, owls, owls and barn owls.
On the border between Lazio, Umbria and Tuscany, the farm is at the center of the ancient land of Tuscia a few kilometers from the
city and Lake Bolsena. Just five kilometers away is the Natural Reserve "Valle dei Calanchi" with Bagnoregio and Civita "Il paese che muore" of Etruscan origin, then Roman and medieval; Montefiascone, the land of wine East! East!! East!!!, a stone's throw from Lake Bolsena and the Romanesque church of San Flaviano; Orvieto with its Gothic-style cathedral, the well of St. Patrick and the underground city; Viterbo with
its medieval quarter, the ancient baths, the ruins of the Roman Ferento, the Renaissance villa Lante della Rovere in Bagnaia; Bomarzo with the "Parco dei Mostri"; Caprarola with the Farnese del Vignola palace.
There are also many other interesting places to visit nearby, such as the medieval town of Tuscanica, the Etruscan archaeological sites of Castel d'Asso (rock necropolis), San Giovenale, Vulci, Tarquinia and Cerveteri
and, for longer excursions: Perugia, Assisi, Todi and Rome.
Inside the structure itself are at guests' disposal: swimming pool with umbrellas (one for each unit), deckchairs and solarized hot shower; access to the green areas equipped
with benches, slide and swing for children; the whole farm area free from crops is available for walking, jogging and picnic; barbecue and traditional wood oven; laundry area with coin-operated washing machine and essential equipment for drying and ironing.
Finally, inside the farmhouse it is possible to find any kind of information and advice about the typical places where you can taste and, if necessary, buy specialties of agriculture and local handicrafts
