The farm is on the eastern coast of Sicily, at the foot of Etna, between Taormina and Acireale. The property stands on around 10 hectares of land cultivated with lemon, clementine, orange and olive trees as well as a range of vegetables.
The perfect holiday for those who love peace and quiet and nature, the agriturismo is strategically located close to the sea (just 200 metres away and accessible on foot), and also at the centre of the region’s main transport links, offering easy access to Etna and the area’s main tourist destinations.
Surrounded by lemon trees, the apartments have been created inside old farmhouses which have been completely renovated. Guest accommodation is provided in four apartments, each with its own independent entrance. All apartments include kitchens with pots and pans and tableware, bathrooms with showers, refrigerators and TVs. Guests can also dine outdoors on the shaded terrace with tables and chairs.
One apartment has been adapted for guests with special needs.
Sun deck and outdoor shower.
Just 8 km from the main body of the farm, you’ll find a further two accommodation options: the Puntalazzo house and guesthouse. Located on the slopes of Etna, in beautiful scenery with views of the coast and the sea, a charming holiday spot nestled amidst fruit trees (apricots, cherries, apples and pears).
30 km takes you to Catania, and 15 km to Taormina and the beautiful Baroque town of Acireale. 200 metres away there is a stunning sand and gravel beach: the coast is home to a range of seaside resorts with all the shops, services and restaurants you could need. The staff will be happy to recommend its partner trattorias and restaurants, where there may be discounts available for the agriturismo’s guests, the ideal place to enjoy traditionally prepared local dishes.
Guests can also purchase the farm’s own produce, including lemons, nova clementines, seasonal fruit, jams, oil and honey.
Giovanni Russo, the owner of Russo Rocca, and the inheritor of a precious tradition, will take you on a tour of the town's last distillery, "Galeano Mazzullo", founded by his great-grandfather and still producing spirits and liqueurs today.
Inform the agriturismo of any animals at the time of booking.
Owners will be held responsible for damage to property and persons.
We (a couple with two children - 4 and 9 years old) spend six nice days at Russo Rocca.
Entering the gate of Russo Rocca is already a marvelous experience for the people who had seen lemons and oranges only in the boxes of markets. The garden is huge and filled with rich, beautiful citrus trees! Lemons, oranges and mandarines trees are everywhere around you. Plus - as our visit was during out of the touristic season we had the luxury of having this beautiful garden just for us.
Even if we arrived a little bit later than expected Giovanni and Anna were very kind and took time to welcome us and to explain all the information that could be useful for us. We appreciate the welcome gift they left for us - there was a box of Sicilian almond cookies, a mini bottle of Prosecco and a nice local wine.
We stayed in the "La Vecchia Casa". It is a simple but nice apartment with all the necessary facilities. There was a room for kids with a single bed for each of them and a spacious bedroom for parents with a stunning view over Etna. I saw in the other comments that some people found the bed a little bit too hard for their tase. I would say - yes the mattress is strong but not too much. We slept very well.
In the kitchen, we found all the necessary tools to prepare breakfast or evening meals when kids were too tired to go to restaurants. What we missed a tiny bit during our stay was a small oven (for those big tasty pizzas we couldn't finish in restaurants and were taking home for the next day).
As our visit was during the winter we were worried if it will not be too cold in the house. Have to admit we were really lucky with the weather (all week we had sun and like +19 + 20 degrees during days) but no problem even in the evening when it's getting more chill - heater works well. One evening we had a little trouble with it and then Giovanni showed up within 10 minutes and fixed everything very fast.
The house is located in a good position to make day visits to all the beautiful places on this side of Sicily. To have an excursion on the Etna we drove less than one hour, the gem of Catania region Taormina is just an hour away, Syracusa - maybe a little bit longer but anyway in a reasonable distance for a day visit. And if you don't feel like driving anywhere - seaside with a beach covered with tiny pebbles is just a few hundred meters away. Even under not so hot winter sun, it was nice to spend a few hours there.
When we were leaving Russo Rocca our four years old son was crying - he said he would have loved to stay longer and to play more between the lemon trees. We all loved our stay by Giovanni and Anna and are thankful to them for their warm welcome. Certainly - we will be back!
The farm is located in a wonderful setting, surrounded by lemons with a breathtaking view of Mount Etna, a few steps from the beach.
It is an ideal starting point for excursions to Mount Etna, to the Alcantara gorges, to visit enchanting towns in the area, rich in history and culture.
The owners are caring and attentive people, they transmit love for their land. They have given us valuable advice, information and have also satisfied our requests. We couldn't have had better treatment. We'll definitely be back!

My friend and I spent a week in the holiday apartment La Cannicciola. The apartment is equipped with everything you need for a holiday and perfect for two people. There are two places to sit outside - in front of the fountain and behind the house. You can see Etna from the kitchen window. To the beach it is only a few hundred meters, the way leads over a parking lot, for which one gets a key. The beach is a pebble beach and even in high season not overcrowded. The water is clear and the entry is pleasant. The nearest shopping is in Risposto, about 20 minutes walk away. It is possible on foot, but the path is not nice (along a busy road). In Riposto there is a great pizzeria which we can highly recommend: Pizzeria Grano. Very tasty pastries and ice cream can be found in Piazza S. Pietro at Panificio Guidi. We didn't like the big hotel opposite the farm, which almost every evening sounds the area with music and animation. We liked the helpfulness of the hosts - Giovanni picked us up from our previous accommodation and brought us to the station at the end of our stay. Thank you very much for the great time! :)
