Loc. Usurana,1, 19020 Calice al Cornoviglio (La Spezia) Code 011008-agr-0002
The farm is situated on the hills of the 'Val Di Vara' valley, very close to the Cinque Terre, it offers hospitality in rooms, local wines, dishes and other products made only with organic ingredients produced in the farmhouse.
The name 'I Due Ghiri' in Italian means 'TWO Dormouse': these two were found still asleep by the workers during the refurbishment of the farmhouse in the winter of 2001. The farm, which occupies almost 20 hectares, is situated on the hills of the 'Val Di Vara' valley, very close to the Cinque Terre in Liguria, one of the most beautiful regions of Italy famous everywhere for its fantastic local products such as olive oil, pesto dressing, home made pasta and bread and many others.
The agritourism has got a restaurant too, but the kitchen is not a real restaurant. Gaia e Stefano, “i due ghiri” (the two dormice) prefer to define their restaurant as “a kitchen for friends”. What you get on your plate comes immediately from our garden: vegetables and organic fruit, olive oil, meat from the farm, bread, homemade pastas, desserts and marmalades. All this forms the basis to prepare every day some simple, but tasty meals. Every night we share this meal, while sitting on a long table with our friends all together. That’s the greatest pleasure!
There are large double and quadruple rooms, with private bathrooms. In addition, there are apartments available.
The structure and the location of the farm offer different possibilities of activities: for those who simply want to relax on the farm and for those who want to go hiking, on foot or by bicycle, starting directly from the farm and connecting to the network of paths of the High Way of the Ligurian Mountains or the park Magra-Montemarcello.
For those who prefer the sea and other destinations easily reachable by car, including: the picturesque Cinque Terre, the enchanting Gulf of Poets, the river park Magra-Montemarcello that offers many opportunities to spend pleasant days and alternative
New: possibility to spend a day of absolute relaxation in the enchanting beach of Fiascherino near Lerici (special price for our guests)
And still the Val di Vara, which is a large green area of the hinterland of the Province of La Spezia and Lunigiana, which owes its name to theancient Roman colony of Luni, recommended visits to the village of Pontremoli, the village of Filattiera and the parish church of Sorano, the villages of Mulazzo and Montereggio, Bagnone and its surroundings, Fivizzano, called the Florence of Lunigiana, and the village of Verrucola, the castle of Fosdinovo.
We also recommend a visit to the Carrara marble quarries: from Carrara we head towards the areas of Fantiscritti, Campocecina from where you can enjoy a wide view of the quarries below and you can follow the phases of transport of marble downstream and then Pian della Fioba and Isolasanta, in the municipality of Massa. An almost obligatory stop is in the village of Colonnata, home of the famous lard.
1 hour's drive from Pisa, Lucca and Genoa
