Contrada San Giorgio - S.S. 120, Km 45,990 , 90028 Polizzi Generosa (Palermo)
What is Antico Feudo San Giorgio?
We started this adventure almost for game ...
It was 2003, fresh newlyweds, we had the dream of saving the family estate. In recent years the family has expanded, the agricultural property has been improved and diversified. The hospitality activity has become a reality.
Our hospitality is based on a capacity of 50 people. Catering is an integral part of our offer. Environmental and nutrition education are issues that are very close to our hearts. Antico eudo San Giorgio is an educational company recognized by the Sicilian Region with accreditation n. 65 of 2013.
Sometimes, we welcome events and meetings, thanks to the versatility of the spaces and the strategic position, in the center of the island.
The farmhouse was built around mid nineteenth century; apart from some recent renovations, the house has been this way since the late nineteenth century.
Orazio Fatta della Fratta, father of Giancorrado, was quite an innovative farmer for his time and won a lot of awards for his wheat (in the past Sicily was the most important Italian producer of cereals). Today Giancorrado and Fabiola Fatta della Fratta with their three children are the protagonists. Giancorrado has been working as a farmer for thirty years. Recently he is also interested in renewable sources. Organic agriculture is a way of life because it aims to produce good food from a balanced soil, to use crop rotations and to not overwork the soil because you want your impact on the environment to be as low as possible. So do we.
Each season has its own beauty throughout the year: in San Giorgio everything is green until the end of May with a stunning variety of colourful flowers; in June until mid July everything is golden because there is an abundance of wheat and other cereals. In August temperatures are usually high and the season is dry. Nevertheless, here we are very lucky because when weather is hot, generally July and August, it is not humid like on the coast. In winter sometimes we have snow and everything is white and luminous.
Antico Feudo San Giorgio offers an excellent choice of accommodation, from B&B to self-catering. There is a free wi fi zone in the club house.
The house is made up of 14 independent accommodation solutions, set around a landscaped courtyard, where 55 people can sleep. The countrystyle units, named after the old papers of the property, are set in two levels. Ground floor lodgins are: four two bedrooms self catering cottages, Crociata, Destra (the latter is disabled friendly too), Firrichicchio and Gavette; a double small room, Ribatteria, a mini suite, Aia Naca, a triple room, Cozzo Parrino. In the apartments the kitchenette is provided with two hot plates, a kitchen sink with drainboard, little fridge, microwave oven, pots, pans, a dinner set. First floor accommodations with attic windows are: a large three bedrooms cottage, Passo Ruvolo, a two bedrooms cottage, San Giuliano, two mini suites, Valle di Bonanno and Passo Matina, and three double bedrooms, Piccionaia, Portella Creta, Ferrigna. All rooms have their own bathroom with shower facilities and central heating. Hair dryer, electric iron and ironing board, baby cot, baby carriage, high chair and fan are available upon request; prices are inclusive of heating, electricity, all bed and kitchen's linen, hand and bath towels. You can ask for twin, double, single rooms. If you have preference for some specific room or apartment, please tell us while on reserving. Finally, ask the Staff for swimming towels and washing machine.
The swimming pool at the foot of the mountains measures 8x16 meters and you can enjoy swimming from May 15th until October 15th; close to the pool, there is an outdoor children's play area. If weather is cold, you can use an indoor play room with table tennis and soccer, a little club house with wood fireplace, board games and cards, books, TV. Our current animals are: a herd of Sicilian donkeys from Ragusa; some pussy cats, several sheep with theirs lambs, some chickens and a herd of marchigiana (an italian race of cows).
In the restaurant we mainly use our own products (vegetables, eggs, honey, meat, olive oil, wine, herbs, sage, rosemary, mint, oregano) with their special flavours and, if this is not possible, we use local suppliers and environmentally friendly products. We propose an everyday menu, you can also reserve for a vegetarian or a gluten free one.
We can also provide you with our own organic olive oii and wine both when you are on the place or we can deliver your order when at home.
We are seeking to minimize waste by recycling glass, paper and plastic.
Escape to peace and tranquillity, come alone or bring your whole family with you, stay here for a night or a week, stay here while on holidays. A warm and friendly welcome in a familiar atmosphere: on arrival you will be personally greeted, especially in the summertime or in the week ends, by Giancorrado, Fabiola and their grown children - Orazio, Francesco, Angelica - or a member of Staff. Antico Feudo San Giorgio is a family-run business with authenticity and joy.
Antico Feudo San Giorgio is a great base for a self-catering holiday: situated just 10 minutes from the motorway, it gives you the freedom to explore the Madonie region and the whole of Sicily as we are quite centrally located. In fact this is an ideal place if you are looking for somewhere to relax, while on days out you can experience the diverse countryside. We provide visitor information packs on local walks and fauna and flora indigenous to our site.
You will find a working organic farm, home to local wildlife (in the day you can watch the abundant birds, in the night you can enjoy the beautiful array of stars in the clear sky), set on about 300 hectares, in the magnificent countryside of the Madonie regional park. Guests are welcome to relax and get away from it all.
We are passionate about locally grown, well produced, quality food and our lives revolve around it.
We run the agriturismo since 2003 (the farm is much more older). We don't mind if we have one guest or 55: for us everyone is special, and we are very motivated to his satisfaction. That's why, altough we have to establish some general rules, we want and try to be flexible. In our restaurant (reservation is appreciated) we propose everyday a different Mediterranean menù, based on our production (no fish). We want to not lose the traditional Sicilian dishes. Breakfast is Italian (milk, coffee, tea, barley, juice, yogurt, biscuits, cake and jam home made, our own free range eggs, organic honey, cereals, butter, nutella, fresh fruits, bread); if you don't like it or if you are looking for something different, please ask the staff for assistance.
If you are interested in a cooking course, please ask for information.
You can reach Cefalù in 40 minutes, Palermo in one hour drive, Catania and the Etna region are a little further, Siracuse or Trapani can be reached in two hours, Piazza Armerina in fifty minutes.
Staying in the Madonie region, the Villa Romana del Casale is a fantastic day out where you can admire superb mosaics (the Villa has just been restored and it's absolutely worth your attention). If you are fond of trekking and mountains, you are in the right place: we are at 700 metres of altitude and in very short time you can access several footpaths suitable for every ability. You will be able to view the abies nebrodensis (the only specimens of it in the world) and you can select the walks most interesting for you. Don't miss a tour through the medieval and picturesque towns of Polizzi Generosa, Petralia Sottana and Soprana, Gangi, Geraci Siculo, Sperlinga, Nicosia, Caltavuturo. It's worth the drive ! If you like adventure parks, you can experience one in Contrada Gorgo Nero close to Petralia, only a 20 minutes drive from us. We also suggest Gole di Tiberio on the Pollina river, a really untouched site, and a visit in a salt mine located in Petralia Soprana. In Piano Battaglia, 30 minutes of car from us, there is a new ski lift which brings you on the Mufara mount; you can get down from the top on foot or you can use your mountain bike. When on the ski lift you can enjoy a fantastic view of the whole landscape.
Other interesting places are: Aidone (where you will admire the Venere of Morgantina), Castelbuono, perhaps the most open-minded town in this part of Sicily, Caltagirone, well known for its beautiful ceramic, Palazzo Adriano, Enna, Gole dell'Alcantara, on the way to Catania, Agrigento, Cavagrande, the Etna vulcan.
Inform the agriturismo of any animals at the time of booking.
Owners will be held responsible for damage to property and persons.
We stayed a little over a week at Antico Feudo with our 18-month-old child, everything was perfect: an incredible view, a crazy calm, nature, the farm, the warm welcome, and exquisite food. We will come back for sure!

We were made so welcome at this traditional working farm surrounded by beautiful countryside. Our room was basic but large and had everything we needed. The food in the restaurant was very good, we enjoyed eating produce from the farm and from local producers. The fresh yogurt for breakfast was sublime! I am a vegetarian and was very happy with the dishes they prepared for me.
The Madonie is a stunning area to explore and we were offered a wealth of information about the region and recommendations of where to visit.
A special thank you to Giancorrado for giving us a very interesting tour of your farm and to your staff. You were all so friendly and helpful - happy to speak English and also encouraging of my attempts at Italian.
